Popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll and their annual convention Crunchyroll Expo previously revealed that this year’s Expo would bring a new music festival with it; the New Crunchy City Music Fest, a three-day music experience running alongside the Crunchyroll Expo.
Newly announced headliners Burnout Syndromes, creators of several beloved anime themes, like the final three seasons of Haikyu!!, Dr. STONE‘s opening theme, and the ending theme for Gintama will headline the main stage at New Crunchy City alongside previously revealed headliners ATARASHII GAKKO!.
Alongside this reveal, Crunchyroll has also announced a special slate of guests from The Rising of the Shield Hero. These guests include composer Kevin Penkin, music producer Hiromitsu “JIMA” Ijima, dance music group MADKID, and animation producer Kosuke Arai. Crunchyroll has not yet announced any events or panels involving these guests, but with these guests being so closely tied to Shield Hero’s music, one can only imagine what could come about.
Crunchyroll Expo 2022 will run from August 5-7, with a digital replay running until August 9. This year’s expo, along with its music festival companion, will be themed New Crunchy City, with four districts highlighting the different parts of the convention: the Central Shopping District will feature all the anime merch fans could possibly want; the Artist Alley present at every con has transformed into New Crunchy City’s Arts District featuring over 150 artists; the Theater District, with its anime premieres and other screenings; and lastly, the Super Arcade featuring Club Yuzu, a spot to play games, rave, and vibe out with other anime fans. Badges are available now at crunchyrollexpo.com for anyone looking to reserve their spot in New Crunchy City.
